statutory holiday increases

From 1 April 2009, a worker's statutory paid holiday entitlement has increased to 5.6 weeks (equivalent to an increase from 24 to 28 days for a worker working a five-day week).  Prior to this, the entitlement was 4.8 weeks.

The increased entitlement can incorporate paid public and bank holidays but there is no obligation on an employer to do so unless already agreed contractually.   Part-time workers are entitled to increased leave on a pro-rata basis.
