changes to statutory pay
From 1 October 2009, the limit on a week's pay for calculating statutory redundancy pay and Employment Tribunal awards that use a week's pay as the basis for calculation, will increase from £350 to £380.
Statutory Sick Pay has increased from £75.40 to £79.15 per week (from 6 April 2009).
Statutory Maternity Pay, Adoption Pay and Paternity Pay has increased from £117.18 to £123.06 per week (from 6 April 2009).
Legislation has also come into effect increasing the upper and lower weekly earnings limits for primary Class 1 NICs. For 2009/2010 the lower earnings limit will be £95, and the upper earnings limit will be £844. This will effect the entitlement of lower-paid employees to benefits such as maternity pay.
