Acas code of practice

The Acas Code of Practice for handling disciplinary and grievance came into force on 6 April 2009 through the Employment Act 2008.

The Code replaces the statutory dispute resolution procedure and sets out the principles of what an employer and employee should do to achieve a reasonable standard of behaviour in the workplace.

Employment Tribunals can decide to increase or decrease an award by up to 25% for breach of the new code.
